The Process

First things first

What do you want out of an employee survey? First and foremost, the aim of the JRA Best Workplaces in Aged Care Survey is to give organisational decision-makers the information they need to make positive change. Different organisations have different requirements from a survey - do you want detailed and stratified reporting abilities by demographics? Would you like to add your own organisation-specific questions? The Best Workplaces in Aged Care Survey comes with a range of reporting options that can enhance your ability to analyse your data and make informed decisions. Click here to see our range of reporting options.

Registration

Once you've decided what reporting options are suitable for your organisation, you need to register. Registration is easy - just click here for the 3-step registration process.

Setup

Once we have received your registration, we can proceed with setting up your survey. Soon after we first hear from you, we will call to introduce ourselves and confirm any details as necessary. This can include finalising a demographic structure, writing extra questions, or detailing our post survey support or analyses.

Administration - How to undertake the survey

Once your survey has been set up, you will be sent a web link to your survey, which you will distribute to your staff via email. For organisations that require it, we also offer a hardcopy option.

We recommend organisations send out a preliminary email to staff about a week before the survey 'goes live.' This email should introduce the survey, describe why it is being conducted, and what you intend to do with the results.

The second email to be sent to staff should include the link to the survey, with some encouraging words about participation. Make sure your survey has a close date (normally 2 weeks after the open date), and let us know it so we can keep an eye on your response rate too.

A few days before the survey closes, send a reminder out to all staff to encourage as many people as possible to participate.

Viewing your survey results

Online in real time! Why wait for a hardcopy report for weeks after survey completion, when the JRA Best Workplaces in Aged Care Survey allows you to view your results during the completion period? Online viewing rights will be established for your nominated contact person as soon as your survey gets underway, so response rates can be tracked to encourage maximum completion.

Benchmarking data will be available soon after the official close of the JRA Best Workplaces in Aged Care Survey, in September.

HR Policies & Practices Review

In addition to the JRA Best Workplaces in Aged Care Survey, the Human Resource Manager (or representative) will be asked to complete an HR Policies & Practices Review. The Review is designed to further investigate human resource policies and practices, and is a valuable part of the overall process.

Selection of our finalists

Organisations must meet the eligibility requirements to become a finalist in the survey.

After having been informed of their success, the CEOs of the finalist organisations will be interviewed by JRA to establish a more in-depth understanding of the policies and practices of those organisations.

Publication of results

The results of the JRA Best Workplaces Survey 2009 will be published in a special supplement in an issue of Insight magazine in November 2009. The article is intended to highlight great workplace practices, and is fantastic publicity for the finalist and winning organisations.
